Appearance: White crystals or powder, insoluble in water and readily soluble in organic solvents such as methanol, ethanol, acetone, and ether. Melting point: 100–103°C. Unstable when heated and easily decomposes, rendering it ineffective. Store below 20°C.

Uses: As a polymerization initiator for monomers used to manufacture polyvinyl chloride, polyvinyl alcohol, polymer polyols, polystyrene, and polyacrylonitrile; as a foaming agent for rubber and plastics.

Packaging: Packed in 20 kg fiber drums or cartons lined with polyethylene bags. Packing Group II.

Storage and transportation precautions: Store and transport in a dry place. Protect from sunlight and heat. Keep away from sources of ignition, flammable materials, and high-temperature equipment.
