Product Introduction

Product Name: Sodium Hydroxide
Also Known As: Caustic soda, lye, sodium hydroxide, caustic soda flakes, caustic soda pearls
Molecular Formula: NaOH
CAS No.: 1310-73-2

Product Overview

Sodium hydroxide is an important basic chemical raw material. It is a white, translucent solid commonly available in flakes and pellets, and is also available as a colorless, transparent, viscous liquid (caustic soda lye). The product is readily soluble in water, releasing a large amount of heat as it dissolves. It is strongly alkaline and highly corrosive, and readily absorbs moisture and carbon dioxide from the air. Our products offer high purity and consistent quality, with high-purity grades of 99% and above available to meet the diverse needs of customers across various industries.

Main Applications

Sodium hydroxide has a wide range of applications and is known as the “mother of chemicals.” It is an essential basic raw material in many industrial sectors.

Chemical industry: Used to manufacture various sodium salts (such as borax and sodium cyanide), synthetic detergents, soap, and more.

Textile dyeing and printing: Used as a desizing, scouring, and mercerizing agent for cotton fabrics to improve fabric quality.

Paper industry: Used as a pulp-cooking agent to effectively remove lignin.

Petroleum industry: Used in petroleum refining to remove hydrogen sulfide and mercaptans.

Water treatment: Used to neutralize acidic wastewater, adjust pH, and remove heavy metal ions.

Food processing (food grade): Used for peeling fruits and vegetables, cleaning food-processing equipment, and acidity regulation.

Metallurgical industry: Used for metal cleaning and surface treatment, as well as alumina production.

Storage and Safety

Store in a cool, dry, well-ventilated warehouse, away from strong acids, organic substances, and heat sources. Protect from moisture.

This product is highly corrosive. Wear protective equipment, such as safety goggles and rubber gloves, when handling it. In case of contact with skin or eyes, rinse immediately with plenty of water and seek medical attention.
