Applications

This product is widely used to separate cobalt from nickel for the production of high-purity cobalt salts and cobalt metal. Metals are extracted by cation exchange. In addition to its selectivity for cobalt in the presence of nickel, this extractant can also extract various other cations depending on the pH of the solution, enabling the extraction and separation of metals such as rare earth elements, gallium (Ga), indium (In), molybdenum (Mo), germanium (Ge), and zirconium (Zr). This extractant is completely miscible with common aromatic and aliphatic diluents and is stable.

In addition, this extractant can be used to recover cobalt metal from spent lithium-ion batteries, including batteries used in electric vehicles, electric bicycles, power tools, electronic products, and stationary energy storage.
